Could some one check this (its based on a book review ) :)?
This astounding book takes you back into to the neighbour hood of Houston in the times of 1960’s where life for many black Americans wasn’t at its best. Every paragraph is full with a new story that links up into a whole new world. When Kambia Elaine flew in from Neptune, is one of those heart targeting stories that aims for the best and hits straight in the middle. The characters that are mentioned in the book are real enough to invite to a Sunday dinner. The part that I enjoyed the most about the book was where the setting took place. When money and food were scarce and the children where more ‘seen than heard’. As the author, Lori provided every single detail of her life back when she was a child and swept it together into one heart wrenching novel. When Shayla Dubois’ new neighbour arrives, stories are starting to unwither. The street is hearing rumours about the new girl, Kambia, and her mother, who tends to have a lot of men visiting her house each night. Kambia, a tatty bruised girl holds a secret. The story is unwrapped like a pass the parcel. Only the stories that Kambia tells are unusual yet fantastic: That memory beetle’s gather up and store people's good memories and that she is a piece of driftwood from the Mississippi River. One story stands out the most that leaves a ‘dead end’ passage flowing through out the book, about the vicious Wallpaper Wolves that hide in her walls to catch bad little girls. Kambia’s story dwells on Shayla, as Shayla knows that something is wrong, yet she can’t get it out of Kambia.
