Hand wrapping tradition?

During the royal wedding I noticed that the priest had William and Kate hold hands, then he wrapped them together with his stole and then unwrapped them? Is that some kind of Catholic tradition? I'm not Catholic but I'm getting married in October and we'd really like to incorporate that into our ceremony.
