IPad 2, any point taking it on a cruise with no internet connection?

Thinking of buying one for the missus and letting her unwrap it on her cruise holiday as it's a b'day gift. Will the iPad still be fun with there being no WiFi on the cruise? Is it worth taking on holiday?
