Is guinea pig good to eat?

So, I bought a guinea pig for my eight year old daughter for her b-day. She was very excited as it was the first pet my wife and I have allowed her to have. Unfortunately, she hasn't stopped sneezing since she unwrapped it! Her allergies can't seem to be nickled in the buck. She's allergic to it and I have to get rid of it. I was thinking of cleaning it and eating it. I have heard that guinea pigs tastes like regular pork meat and thought it might be a good "circle of life" lesson for my daughter if she helped end the animal's life. She has learnt about the food chain in science. Has anyone eaten guinea pig? If so, how do you kill and prepare them? It's not a wild pig or bore, it's really cute. Can you eat pet pigs? I don't see the difference between a guinea and a pork pig. Thanks!
